As part of Securecell’s ongoing commitment to delivering secure, modern, and interoperable industrial solutions, we are announcing the retirement of the Lucullus OPC DA Client Driver and the Bridge Service.
Why this change?
This decision aligns with the broader industry transition from OPC DA to OPC UA.
The Bridge Service was originally introduced as a workaround for limitations of the now-deprecated DCOM protocol. With both OPC DA and DCOM being phased out across the industry, continuing to support these components no longer aligns with modern security and interoperability standards.
To ensure a future-proof architecture, we are consolidating our connectivity offering around the native OPC UA driver, which provides:
- Enhanced security
- Improved interoperability
- Long-term sustainability and support
Timeline
- End of Sales / Download: January 1, 2026
- End of Bug Fixes & Improvements: April 1, 2026
- End of Standard Support: December 31, 2026
- Final Retirement (removal from product): To be announced (aligned with the next major Lucullus release)
