We are looking for a technically minded software UI/UX Designer with a strong focus on graphical design to help shape the future of Lucullus®, our industry-leading software for bioprocess automation in the life sciences, and Securecell’s products and developments. You'll design intuitive, user-centered interfaces for complex scientific applications used by biotechnologists, biologists, chemists, and data scientists. Join us in building tools that accelerate treatment development and deliver critical therapies to patients faster. Our vision is to maintain this leading position and stand out significantly from all other bioprocess software applications. Your responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to, the following:

  • Develop and maintain a scalable design system with consistent and clear visual patterns.
  • Align UI designs with corporate branding and contribute to a unified visual identity across products.
  • Collaborate with developers (working in C++/Qt/QML, Java/Vue.js, and Siemens PLC) to ensure graphical designs are technically feasible and efficiently implementable.
  • Present UI/UX design concepts to stakeholders and lead design reviews to ensure the successful implementation of user-centric interfaces
  • Translate complex user requirements into intuitive information architectures, wireframes, prototypes, and workflows.
  • Ensure product quality through UX research and interaction design for lab automation software, collaborating with domain experts to understand workflows and user needs
  • Contribute to the industrial design discussions of lab and medical hardware interfaces to create a holistic user experience across physical and digital touchpoints.

REQUIREMENTS

  • You have a degree in graphical design, visual communication, human-computer interaction, psychology, computer science, life sciences, engineering, or a similar education.
  • At least 3+ years of experience designing UI/UX for technical, scientific, or industrial software. Prior work on products with complex data visualizations, instrument control, or workflow-based environments is highly desirable.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing custom-designed UI elements (icons, buttons, logos, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of how design choices impact implementation complexity, especially in C++/Qt/QML and Java/Vue.js environments.
  • Ability to communicate design rationale clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Open-minded, versatile, enthusiastic, driven to take on new challenges across the board and to make a difference.
  • You are goal-oriented, use systematic and structured approaches, work well independently, show strong cooperation and problem-solving skills, and interact in an international and intercultural setting.
  • Confident with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Jira, Confluence, and MS Office.
  • Must be fluent in English, have a valid work permit for Portugal, and be present in our office at least 2 times per week.
  • Background in or strong interest in life sciences, biotech, or lab instrumentation domains.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and usability requirements relevant to medical/lab software is a plus.
