DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR (DBA) with DevOps expertise

Are you passionate about database administration and DevOps practices? Do you have experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL databases, CI/CD processes, Docker, and cloud environments? If so, we might have the perfect opportunity for you!
Our Bioprocess automation software runs seamlessly on both Windows and Linux operating systems and is used as a standalone application or in client-server setups. We also offer web applications with distinct frontend and backend components, primarily utilizing REST APIs for reliable and scalable integration.

YOUR TASKS

  • Database Solutions: Play a key role in the conception, implementation, operation, maintenance, and support of database solutions (Oracle, Postgres), ensuring optimal setup according to factors like performance, scalability, availability, and security.
  • Cloud Integration: Expand our software solutions by integrating Oracle DB on the cloud, potentially offering it as a service to our clients.
  • CI/CD Pipeline: Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for database creation and automated routine tasks with DevOps tools and scripting.
  • Containerization and DevOps Tools: Utilize state-of-the-art containerization and manage CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, and the Atlassian suite to enhance deployment and scalability.
  • Automation: Create and implement automated processes to enhance efficiency and streamline operations.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Develop and maintain monitoring systems to ensure the health and performance of databases and applications.
  • System Development: Further develop the DevOps systems and practices within the company.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with various teams within our company as well as with our clients. Lead DevOps activities across teams.
  • Team Leadership: Build, lead, and manage teams, fostering collaboration and excellence.
  • Agile Working: Embrace agile methodologies to enhance team collaboration and project delivery.
  • Support Tasks: Perform support tasks for both external clients and internal teams to ensure smooth operation and client satisfaction.

YOUR PROFILE

  • Educational Background: University degree in Information Technology or similar.
  • Experience: 5 years of experience in database administration, with at least 3 years focused on Oracle, and first DevOps practices.
  • Database Skills: Extended knowledge in database services (Oracle, Postgres) as well as in database monitoring and management tools.
  • DevOps Tools and Cloud Environments: Experience with CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, and the Atlassian suite, Docker container orchestration, Ansible, and knowledge of cloud platforms and services.
  • Scripting Skills: Mastery in advanced scripting (SQL, PowerShell, bash and batch, and Python).
  • Problem-Solving: In-depth knowledge and experience to solve complex database problems.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills and fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Agile Development: Experience with SCRUM and Agile Development methodologies.
  • You have a valid work permit for Switzerland
